Robberies in Roscoe Village update

Published by the-rv under Crime and Safety

From RVN President Don Tomei:

COMMUNITY ALERT – TWO MUGGINGS IN ROSCOE VILLAGE
Police have reported that two people were mugged in our neighborhood early this morning between about 4:00am and 4:20am.  One of the victims was critically injured.  The first mugging took place in the 3300 block of North Hoyne Avenue.  The victim, a 53-year-old man, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was reported in critical condition.  The second attack, involving a newspaper deliveryman, occurred around 4:20am in the 2200 block of West Belmont Avenue.  Police say the deliveryman was approached by two attackers and beaten with “an unknown object.”

At this time police have not connected these attacks to other similar muggings reported in the Lakeview and Lincoln Park areas in the past two weeks.

We have spoken to the 19th District Police Headquarters and were told to inform all residents to be especially careful — and if possible to avoid walking alone — between the hours of 3-5am, the time when most of these muggings have occurred.  If you must be out at this time, consider asking a neighbor or friend for a ride to your destination.  If you are up during these times, keep an eye on your street and be alert to any unusual sights or sounds.  Please be vigilant and call 911 immediately if you hear or see anything suspicious in your area.

Anyone who has any information about either of these incidents should call 911 to report this information.

Here is a link to an online WGN online article with more information about these attacks.

We’ll continue to keep you updated as we receive more information.

The best thing we can do now is be careful, be alert and LOOK OUT FOR ONE ANOTHER!

Two robberies in Roscoe Village

Published by the-rv under Crime and Safety

Scary stuff- early this morning, there were two separate attacks in our neighborhood at 2058 W. Belmont and 3319 N. Hoyne. The attacks occurred sometime between 4 and 5 am.

No word if these attacks are linked to those recent muggings in Lincoln Park and Boystown.

Whatever it is, be safe!
